First released in November 2007 the National Broadband Map has undergone revision in consultation with potential users of the map. The National Broadband Map exists to compliment demand aggregation strategies of central and local government and provide a comprehensive view of the nation's Broadband landscape.
The National Broadband Map is intended to be relevant for a wide range of users and includes a number of tools to allow more advanced and specialist users to take advantage of the data that is contained within the application yet at the same time making the data accessible by all.
Demand points across for the health, education and government sectors have been identified and are displayed on the map, organisations and individuals also have the ability to submit their Broadband requirements which will lead to a robust picture of Broadband demand in New Zealand.
Broadband supply has been identified in conjunction with New Zealand's network providers and telecommunications operators and is displayed within the mapping application.
