The Nelson Marlborough Inforegion (NMi) is a joint venture between the Nelson Regional EDA and the Marlborough Regional Development Trust working alongside the region's three councils.
The core focus of the joint venture is to bring together the key top of the south information and communication technology (ICT) initiatives for the benefit of all three regions (Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough Districts).
NMi is beginning to use the map to plan a business case for a fibre optic extension through Marlborough's viticultural areas. This extension will be to the current Tasman Fibre Network which extends from Motueka in the West to Blenheim, Picton and Waikawa in the East.
Information is being gathered on the location and demand for Broadband in targeted areas. With this information aggregated demand and feasibility of network extensions can be assessed.

Venture Southland is a joint committee of the Invercargill City Council, Southland District Council and Gore District Council.
Venture delivers Enterprise, Tourism, Promotion, Events and Community Development services to the region.
Venture Southland use the National Broadband Map to identify where potential demand points are for the proposed Invercargill urban fibre network. This means that new routes on the network can be assessed on not only immediate customers but likely users in the future.

KAREN is a next generation telecommunications link for New Zealand educators, researchers and innovators.
It provides high capacity, ultra high-speed connectivity between New Zealand's tertiary institutions, research organisations, libraries, wananga, schools and museums, and the rest of the world.
KAREN are using the RESTful API functionality of the National Broadband Map to help in identifying what education sites are close to their existing and planned network facilities. The RESTful API lets KAREN open identified demand points within Google Earth and combine it with network data they hold locally. The National Broadband Maps means KAREN have access to data in a format they can readily use and that integrates with their existing systems. KAREN don't have to acquire or manage the data themselves they can draw the information directly from the National Broadband Map.
