Navigating the Map 

The National Broadband Map uses Google Maps to present Broadband supply and demand data.   The interface should be familiar to users of Google Maps or similar online mapping tools.

The following diagram shows functionality for navigating the National Broadband Map.

  1. Navigation control - Use the arrow buttons to move the map North, South, East or West. The map can also be moved by clicking and dragging or using the accessibility keys.
  2. Zoom - Use these controls to zoom in and out on the map.  The [+] and [-] icons may be used or the slider can be clicked and dragged.   The scroll wheel on a mouse can also be used to zoom in and out.
  3. Map view - this shows the underlying map as a standard map with streets and roads
  4. Satellite view - use this to show the map as satellite photography or aerial photography.
  5. Hybrid view - use this to show the map as satellite or aerial photography with streets and roads overlaid.
  6. Terrain view - use this to show a relief shaded map.
  7. Address search - you can enter an address to search for and the map will return the most likely result.
  8. Region - this drop down lets you select a region that the map will display.
  9. Demand points - selecting these check boxes displays Broadband demand points on the map.
  10. Demand point subcategories - these links expand or collapse the demand point sub categories.
  11. Network Suppliers - Selecting these check boxes displays the selected Broadband network's coverage on the map.
